Our fields are filled with crias, which is what
a baby alpaca or llama is called. Cria means "little
one." Surprisingly our largest cria crop
is usually in the late fall as these animals can
be bred year round. The gestation for an alpaca
averages 11 months while a llama is closer to
12 months. Single births are to be expected, with
only one live set of twins born at WoodsEdge in
all these years. Our newest crias are located
in a paddock next to our Farm Store, so customers
can see some of the new crias.
