Did you know that most clothing has a
significant carbon footprint? Natural fibers have a
lower carbon footprint than petroleum based synthetics
(which most clothes are made from), but when natural
fibers are shipped to China to be made into a product
they have a significantly increased carbon footprint
due to the fuels used for shipping.
Alternatively, every time you buy socks which are raised
from locally grown fiber you support a local farmer.
As a farmer, we in turn support small, family owned
and operated mills who convert our fiber into yarns
which are then made into socks and other products creating
American jobs. Many of these small mills are vertically
integrated which means our fleece can be spun and knit,
or spun and woven at the same place which further reduces
shipping costs and the carbon footprint.
WoodsEdge can provide you with a green alternative
for socks (and all kinds of clothing and home furnishing
items as well). Of course our "green" socks
will be in the natural undyed, hypo-allergenic alpaca
colors of grey, brown, fawn or black, but you will feel
much better knowing they are as green and eco-conscious
as a sock can be!
